A period is not an end, but a START.

Menstrual hygiene is an important aspect of girls’ health and wellbeing.

In India, over 20% of adolescent girls drop out of school after they start menstruating due to lack of right education, proper facilities or financial issues.

In 2020, we donate US$60,000 and work with our partners from India, Saath Charitable Trust and Unipads India, aiming to improve awareness among adolescent school girls about the importance of menstrual hygiene.

Together with Saath Charitable Trust and Unipads India, we will carry out over 100 MHM workshops. The event comprises an hour’s interactive session to make the school girls aware of the right menstrual hygiene practices and busting the myths and taboos around periods. A reusable sanitary pad kit with a leaflet in the local language, with information about menstrual hygiene management, will also be given to each girl at the workshop. The kits will help the girls manage their menstrual hygiene for a year.

Multiple workshops, each targeting 50-200 adolescent girls, will be organized at different places in the Gujarat state. In addition to slum pockets in various parts of Ahmedabad city, the campaign will cover villages in the vicinity of Ahmedabad, villages near Rajkot, and villages in Sabarkantha, Dahod, Banaskantha, and other places.

This campaign will reach out to over 12000 school girls in Gujarat state, India as beneficiaries.
